In 1980, NCAD relocated to Thomas Street, which was formerly home to Power's Whiskey Distillery. The site comprises a mixture of 19th, 20th and 21st century buildings which are still in use by the College. In 2019, Bernard Smith Consulting Engineers, began working with NCAD and their design team to prepare a scope of works for the electrical upgrade throughout the site. These works were prioritised into Phase 1 and 2. Phase 1 upgrade works were completed in early 2022. Phase 2 is due to commence in mid 2022. The College remained fully operational throughout the works.
